Lead Deduplication
Also called: dedupe leads, remove duplicate leads, duplicate lead removal
Lead deduplication is the process of identifying and merging records in a lead list that represent the same person, typically by matching on email address, phone number, or close name variants.
Why it matters
Duplicate leads are an underrated source of churn. Two reps calling the same lead twice ruins the customer experience and looks unprofessional. Worse, duplicates inflate pipeline numbers and break attribution: you can't tell which channel actually delivered a deal if the lead lives in three rows. Cleaning duplicates before any follow-up work pays for itself fast.
Example
A spreadsheet has both `Mike B, mike@example.com` and `Michael Brown, MIKE@example.com, 604-555-1234`. Deduplication merges them into one record with all known contact methods preserved, and notes the slight name variation so a rep can confirm.
How Lead Sorted handles it
Lead Sorted detects duplicates by normalised email and phone number on every import. Exact matches are auto-merged. Probable matches (slight name variations, partial phone overlap) are surfaced for one-click review. Junk rows with no contact method are flagged separately so you can decide whether to enrich or skip.
